We want everyone to be able to learn about Project Vidya and support it, whatever device or assistive technology they use.
Our goal
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA. We haven’t had the site independently audited, so we don’t claim full conformance yet.
What we’ve done so far
- Keyboard: everything works with a keyboard. There’s a “Skip to content” link, visible focus outlines, and the mobile menu closes with the Escape key.
- Reading: text and buttons meet WCAG AA colour contrast. Body text is at least 16px and nothing is smaller than 12px. Pages reflow on screens as narrow as 320px with no sideways scrolling.
- Images: team photos have text descriptions. Purely decorative illustrations are hidden from screen readers.
- Motion: if your device is set to reduce motion, the scroll animation is switched off and a still picture shows instead. There’s also a “Skip the animation” link, and everything the animation shows is also written in the page.
- Without JavaScript: all content, links and the Donate button still work.
Known limitations
- We haven’t yet tested the site with screen readers such as VoiceOver, NVDA or TalkBack, or on every phone and browser.
- The donation page on HCB and our Instagram account are run by other organisations, so we can’t control how accessible they are.
Tell us about a problem
If something is hard to use, email contact@YOUR-DOMAIN. Tell us which page you were on and what went wrong. We’ll work on a fix, and in the meantime get you the information another way.
